ADVANTAGES OF TERRACOTTA PRODUCTS

Advantages of
terracotta products

The “outdoor living” trend shows no sign of stopping.
The demand for natural, authentic materials is more evident now than ever – and the natural material terracotta is very popular and sought-after in particular. This is why we keep setting new trends in this particular segment. As well as the appealing look, terracotta offers a lot of advantages which promote the plants’ well-being. Terracotta is porous and breathable – the fired clay absorbs water and releases it in doses to help your plants grow nice and strong. The product is also UV resistant and doesn’t fade, even in strong sunshine.

Growth-promoting. Breathable. Frost-resistant.

Terracotta is breathable and porous, and offers particular advantages to plants. The fired clay is what makes terracotta breathable,
and it absorbs water and releases it again for nice strong growth. Equally, terracotta pleases with its natural look and feel.

SK‘s terracotta vessels can also be kept outside on the terrace or balcony in winter. In order to protect them against frost damage however,
care should be taken to ensure that the pots do not absorb too much water and the liquid can drain away.

To do this, lay clay fragments or pebbles over the hole in the bottom when potting plants.
This way it remains clear and the water can drain away at any time.

Use our terracotta feet to make sure that the Outdoor vessels don’t get damaged in winter.
The decorative feet enable excess water to drain off, and so protect the vessels and plants against frost damage in winter.

Water drainage hole

Excess water can easily drain out of the water drainage hole, meaning that water does not build up in the vessel.
This protects the roots from excess moisture – which promotes the healthy and vigorous growth of your plants.

It is important here to cover the hole in the bottom with clay fragments or pebbles before planting.
This way, soil and roots do not block the hole and stop excess water from draining away.
It also prevents water from expanding in temperatures below freezing and prevents the ceramic from getting frost damage.
